Job Summary:

  • Lead the Clinical team, focusing on clinical user experience in the Vetspire web app
  • Drive cutting-edge enhancements in veterinary patient care to delight users and encourage adoption of Vetspire
  • Focus on technical leadership, team supervision and cross-team collaboration

Responsibilities:  

  • Handles hiring, performance reviews, and career development of software engineers on the team
  • Manage the agile development process, with support from the VP of Engineering and Product Manager
  • Provide architectural expertise and guide platform evolution decisions
  • Create and document high level architectural solutions to include cloud infrastructure and application runtime objects relationship
  • Monitor and manage platform security, performance, and stability over the assigned application domain as part of recurring team practice
  • Foster a culture of security, coding standards, architecture patterns, resiliency, and thorough documentation
  • Manage lifecycle of incidents raised by support and/or product teams
  • Elevate collaboration and team comfort through proactive leadership
  • Facilitate effective communication across teams
  • Take ownership over delivery of team features, bugs and technical debt reduction
  • Cultivate close relationships with the Product team to align product strategy and technical debt with roadmap planning
  • Work with Product Owner and Support Team to address customer support escalations
  • Work with external technical stakeholders when developing new features, addressing difficult system failures, and/or third-party system integrations  

                      Key Qualifications:

                      • BS in Computer Science and/or related engineering field or 10+ years' experience in technical field
                      • 5 years of demonstrated proficiency in back-end language (e.g. Elixir or similar preferred) and front-end framework (e.g. React preferred)
                      • 2 years in a technical managerial role with proven success in delivering business value while sustaining high morale in team under your supervision
                      • Track record of leading engineering teams in developing high quality, scalable and secure software solutions on a high traffic web application
